혼동하기 쉬운 영어 표현

 

1. Most와 Most of 구별

Most는 일반적인 경우; Most teachers care very much about their students.

Most of는 특정한 경우;

Most of the teachers at my school care very much about their students.

2. While은 완전한 문장과, During은 단순 명사와 함께.

During 다음에는 명사나 명사절이 오고;

I fell asleep during the movie. It wasn't very interesting.

While 다음에는 주어와 동사가 있는 완전한 문장;

What did you do while you were in Paris?

(While 다음에 ~ing 형태만 써도 되는 경우: While에 속해 있는 문장의 주어와 콤마 다음에 나오는 문장의 주어가 같을 경우); While sleeping, I had a bad dream.

3. 동사 Influence는 전치사가 필요없음; Influence가 명사로 쓰일 때는 on이라는 전치사와 함께; My mate teacher influenced me a lot.

=My mate teacher had a lot of influence on me.

4. Despite;‘~에도 불구하고’ 목적어로는 명사나 명사구, 명사절.독립된 문장이 오면 안됨.

Despite 대신 In spite of를 써도 됨.

Despite the fact that the weather is bad, we're having a picnic.

= Despite the bad weather, we're having a picnic.

In spite of his lack of experience, he was given the job.

= In spite of the fact that he has no experience, he was given the job.

5. 부정어로 물을 때 Yes냐, No냐!

A: Joe isn't here yet?

B: No(He isn't here)/Yes(He is here)

6.So는 형용사를 강조하는 부사;

So long time이라고 하면 so는 결국은 명사 time을 수식. time을 빼고 그냥 so long. 명 사 time을 넣고 싶으면 such a long time

such는 형용사 뒤에 명사가 올 때만 강조의 의미로 사용.

ex) I haven't seen you in so long time, I didn't recognize you. (X)

I haven't seen you in so long, I didn't recognize you. (O)

I haven't seen you in such a long time, I didn't recognize you. (O).

7.Altogether는 Completely(완전하게), Thoroughly(철저하게),All together는 In a group(함께), In union(단결하여)라는 뜻;

They quit smoking altogether.

They quit smoking all together.

 

TIP; *borrow는 빌려오는 것, Lend는 빌려주는 것. *see는 눈으로 인식하는 것,look는 보기위해 시선을 줄 때,watch는 움직이는 물체를 볼 때,Tv로 영화를 보면 watch,영화관에서 보면 see. *nearby는 지금 있는 곳에서 가까이에, near는 어떤 장소 가까이에 있을 때.

Would you care for a cup of coffe while you're waiting./ 기다리시는 동안 커피 한 잔 드시겠어요?

He's with patient./ 환자와 함께 있습니다.

I have stuffy nose./ 코가 막혔다.

I have splitting headache./ 머리가 깨지는 것 같이 아프다.

I ache all over./ 몸살이 있습니다.

It hurts right here./ 여기가 아파요.

What seems to be the trouble? /What's the matter with you? / 어디가 아파요?

He slipped and fell and sprained his ankle. / 그가 미끄러져 넘어져서 발목을 삐었대요.

He's too sick to get out of bed. /그는 너무 아파서 침대에서 일어날 수 가 없대요.

I ache all over./제가 몸살이 났습니다.

He had a heart attack./그는 심장마비에 걸렸어요.

Do you have anything for a cold?/ 감기에 좋은 약이 있나요?

Do you have fever? / 열이 있으세요?

I have a fever (temperature). / 열이난다.

I have a cough and my nose is running. / 기침이 나고 콧물이 흐릅니다.

Why don't you take an aspirin. / 아스피린을 한번 드셔 보세요.

How many should I take? / 몇 알씩 먹어야 하나요?

Only one at a time. / 한번에 한 알씩만 복용하십시오.

I had the flu for a couple of weeks. / 2주동안 유행성 감기를 앓았어요.

He had a car accident and broke his arm. / 그는 자동차 사고로 팔이 부러졌대요.

I have a terrible headache. / 심한 두통이 있어요.

How often should I take these pills? / 얼마나 자주 이 알약을 복용해야 됩니까?

Take one in every five hours. / RT : Come in please / 들어 오십시오.

RT : Before i begin the test, let me ask you something. / 검사를 시작하기 전에 몇가지 물어 보겠습니다.

RT : Do you happen to have calustrophobia? / Any life supporting equipment in your body?/혹시 폐소공포증이 있습니까?, 몸속에 생명유지 기기가 들어 있습니까?

RT : Our nurse will give you an injection in your left arm. after that, i will start a test./ 간호사가 왼쪽팔에 주사한대를 놓을 것입니다. 그리고 검사를 시작하겠습니다.

RT : It'll take about one and half hour for this exam. / 약 1시간 반 정도 소요됩니다.

RT : let me tie your leg slightly to prevent moving. / 움직임을 방지하기 위해 다리를 약간 묶습니다.

RT : If you need something during the test, Try not to move, just say it,

i can hear you at outside. / 만약 검사중에 필요한게 있으시면 , 움직이지 마십시오, 그냥 말하세요,밖에서 들을수 있습니다.

RT : Are you ready for exam? / 검사 준비 되었습니까?

RT : Here we go. / 시작 합니다.

주사실 에서;

Nurse : Have a seat here./ 여기에 앉으세요.

Nurse : Would you roll up your left arm sleeves? / 왼쪽팔 소매를 걷어 주시겠습니까?

Nurse : During the injection, may be you will feel little hot and warm. / 주사 맞는 동안, 약간 아프고 열이 날수도 있습니다.

Nurse : O.K

Nurse : Don't rub it there, just push down for a min. / 거기를 문지르지 마세요, 그냥 1분간 누르세요
